Getting around

The metro covers almost everything and runs late. Get a T-Casual card — it's cheaper than buying single tickets and works on buses too. For the airport, the Aerobús drops you at Plaça Catalunya, or take the L9 Sud if you're near a stop.

When to come

April to June and September to October. Good weather, the city isn't overwhelmed, and you can actually get a table at a restaurant. July and August are fine but hot and busy. November through February is quieter and surprisingly pleasant.

What to do

Sagrada Família if you haven't been, Park Güell early in the morning before the crowds, the Gothic Quarter on foot, Boqueria for a look but eat elsewhere. Montjuïc at sunset. El Born for a drink. And at some point, just sit somewhere with a vermut and watch the city go by.

Where to eat
